((hiya, guys! realtalk time, let’s huddle up~

first off, i have no problem with you guys using atdb panels for, say, reaction gifs or whatever, that doesn’t bother me. (i am mostly pleased you like it enough to use it!) but this morning i saw a photo post on my dash that consisted of one of the panels from an atdb response. it was just one gif, presented without comment or context, and not sourced back to atdb.

and it had over a thousand notes!! i am flattered and delighted that so many people liked it!!! but more than that, way more than that, i am kind of upset. because as much as i’m glad that someone thinks the art is good enough to stand on it’s own, presented without comment, the panel was original part of a post, that had a point and a small sort of story to go with it. i made that panel with the intent for it to be viewed within a certain context, which is just as important to overall post as the actual art or the writing. 

i realize reposts of stuff without sources are inevitable, what with imageboards and the like. but please, please, try to source stuff as much as you can, if not for the artist’s sake, then for other folks in the fandom who might want to check out the source of a cool picture. i’m doing atdb for fun, but there are artists out there who rely on their work for commission money, and stuff like that, and reposting their work without a source hurts them in a very tangible way. 

and i know you guys aren’t out to stomp all over artists, and that reposting unsourced work might seem like a trivial thing to worry about. not bothering to give a source when you repost art is an act that comes across to artists as thoughtless, disrespectful, and hurtful, and i know none of you guys are any of those!!! :(

bottom line: i do not mind if you repost atdb panels— it’ll hurt my feelings a little bit, but this is the internet and i’m an adult— but please source them back to this blog or the original post! heck, if you’re looking for a specific post so you can give it a source, message me and i’ll find it for you!!

i know it’s just a silly askblog, but i deeply enjoy creating content for it, and i want everyone who’s interested to be able to enjoy it too.

It’s been a hectic time, but here’s the result. My mother, brother, and I have created three levels of platformer-ish gameplay. (They haven’t even read Homestuck and programmed for me anyways! Four for you, family.) Be sure and tell me about any bugs or issues, and have fun!
